Please Note
Patrons are responsible for materials check out on their card and parents or guardians are responsible for materials checked out by children under the age of 18. If a library card is lost, it can be replaced at a cost of $2.00.
Loan Periods and Borrowing Limits
- Library materials are loaned for:
- New Books - 14 Day
- Books - 21 Days
- Magazines - 14 Days
- DVDs - 7 Days
- Video Games - 7 Days
- Audiobooks - 14 Days
- Music CDs - 14 Days
- The Library allows patrons to borrow up to fifty (50) items on a borrower card at any one time.
Fine Free Circulation
To improve access and opportunity in our community, TSPL has eliminated overdue fines.
- If there are no holds on an item, it will be renewed up to four times. After the final renewal, the item will become "Overdue." Patrons whose accounts have three (3) or more Overdues will have their borrowing privileges temporarily suspended until the items are returned, but these patrons will not be charged any late fines.
- Patrons will be charged the replacement cost of any items overdue for 45 days or more. The library also will continue to assess fees for lost or damaged items as appropriate. Patrons with lost, damaged, or replacement fees of $10.00 or more will have their borrowing privileges suspended until the fees are paid. TSPL is most concerned about keeping its materials available for use by all of our patrons. Therefore, patrons may return items in order to have associated replacement fees removed from their account.
- If a customer locates and returns an item after paying for it, a refund will be issued. The request must be made within thirty (30) days of the payment. Customers who request a refund must provide the receipt that was issued by the library at the time payment was tendered.
- NOTE: Items borrowed through interlibrary loan from a library outside of the SEO Consortium on behalf of a Library customer are subject to the loan rules of the lending organization.
About Overdue and Lost Notices
- The Library will attempt to alert patrons by sending a notice when items they have borrowed become Overdue or are considered lost.
- Notices are sent as a courtesy only.
- Patrons may elect to be notified by email or text. The Library does not send notices via USPS or by telephone.
- After an item is considered lost for forty-five (45) days, a bill for the cost of the item will automatically be mailed to the patron.
A Note to Parents & Guardians
Tiffin-Seneca Public Library staff cannot act in loco parentis (“in place of the parents”) and will not monitor the use of, or place unique checkout restrictions upon, a minor’s account. Materials that may be appropriate for one individual may not be appropriate for another. The library strongly encourages parents and guardians to guide their children in their use of the library.
